Orange County, California Beaches contains a list of Orange County’s 42 miles of continuous beaches. 

Orange County Beaches offer a vibe array of enjoyment. 

The beaches in Orange County all provide different environments.

You can enjoy the beach city vibe at Huntington, then bicycle on the bike paths through Newport Beach or relax in on of Laguna Beaches tranquil beach settings.  

Orange County Beaches

Aliso Beach County Park

Aliso Beach is a family friendly popular sandy beach in South Laguna Beach, California. 

Unlike many Orange County beaches, Aliso Beach offers an over-sized street parking area next to Pacific Coast Highway and an additional parking can be found across the highway. 

Aliso Beach features long sandy beaches, fire ring, rocky promontories, and scenic coastal foothills.

The beach is in two sections the beach and an inland area that includes coastal chaparral and Aliso Creek.

Swimming, skin diving and surfing all take place in the waters off Aliso Beach.

If you plan to swim at Aliso Beach be sure to check the water quality. 

The water at Aliso Creek next to Aliso Beach often flows across the sand into the beaches ocean and causes the surf to be contaminated. 

If you desire a swimming beach with safer,  cleaner ocean water then it would be worth the walk to the north end of Aliso Beach.

At the north end of Aliso Beach, you can find Treasure Island Beach. 

Fishing is available off the Aliso Pier.

A concession stands at Aliso Beach offers fishing gear rental and sales, food, and beverage and beach supplies.

 

Balboa Peninsula Beach 

At the end of Balboa Blvd.

Balboa Peninsula Beach is a long stretch of sandy beach south of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, California. 

Balboa Peninsula Beach is a lively, fun beach with cafes, and shops lining the boardwalk.

A paved path for bikers, runners and skaters starts behind the dune and continues beyond the Newport Pier.

You can rent roller blades, beach cruisers and surfboards from nearby vendors to take advantage of Balboa Peninsula Beaches fabulous boardwalk. 

Next, to the Balboa Peninsula beach, there is a Fun Zone.

The Fun Zone is a family friendly place that offers games, rides, boat tours, and the popular Ferris Wheel.

You can also ride the ferry to Balboa Island. 

 

Bolsa Chica State Beach

Bolsa Chica State Beach stretches approximately three miles. 

Throughout the year at  Bolsa Chica State Beach, you can find sunbathers and surfers.

The fire rings that Bolsa Chica State Beach offers makes the beach a popular night destination. 

You can find concession stands, a large size paid parking lot, and restrooms at Bolsa Chica State Beach. 

Bolsa Chica State Beach has beachside RV camping available. 

As an added bonus you can find that Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is across Pacific Coast Highway.   

 

Capistrano Beach Park

Capistrano Beach Park is often referred to as Capo Beach and is the main community beach.

Capistrano Beach is part of the city of Dana Point, California.

Capo Beach sits along the southern coast of Dana Point. 

The beach is narrow and parts of the sand are rocky.

There are basketball courts and volleyball courts.

During the summer month, Capistrano Beach concession stand is open.

The concession stand offers bicycle rentals, food, and beverage. 

Capistrano Beach Park parking lot entrance is at Pacific Coast Highway and Palisades Drive. 

Not all of Capistrano beach is public. 

 

Corona del Mar State Beach

Corona del Mar State Beach is known as “Big Corona Beach”.

Corona del Mar Beach is approximately a half-mile long sandy beach.

The beach is framed by cliffs and a rock jetty that forms the east entrance to Newport Harbor.

Corona del Mar State Beach is a fabulous family beach.

Big Corona also is known as Corona del Mar Beach is popular with sunbathers, surfers, divers, volleyball players.

You can enjoy a walking path on Ocean Blvd above Corona del Mar State Beach. 

Many people gather on the Ocean Blvd walking path to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. 

On the other end of Ocean Avenue at Poppy is “Little Corona Beach”.

The pathway to reach Little Corona Beach is steep and the beach is small and surrounded by protective rocky reefs.

The location of Little Corona Beach makes the beach a popular snorkeling spot and a popular diving area.

The kid-friendly tide pools of Little Corona Beach are highlights with many beachgoers.

 

Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove State Park is one of largest remaining open space and natural seashores of Orange County.

Crystal Cove State Park offers approximately 3.2 miles of wide sandy beaches, tide pools, along with deeply wooded canyons and ridges.

If you park at the El Moro Canyon parking lot you will find hiking backcountry trails, bicycling and equestrian use.

Crystal Cove State Park beachgoers can enjoy dining within feet of the ocean at The Beachcomber Cafe or dine at the Shake Shack on the bluff at the top of the park.

Crystal Cove has beach cottages to rent and blufftop camping. However, the wait to camp at Crystal Cove State Park can take more than six months in advance. 

 

Doheny State Beach

Doheny State Beach covers 62 acres of scenic oceanfront.

Doheny Beach offers a wide array of activities.

Beach activities include volleyball, swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, windsurfing and tide pool exploration at low tide.

Doheny Beach is known as a great beach for beginning surfers.

Surfing is restricted to the day-use beach north of San Juan Creek at Doheny State Beach.

Doheny State Beach offers beachside tent and RV camping.

Doheny State Beach has been voted Orange County’s “best camping site” for 14 consecutive years.

The beach offers popular events: Doheny Blues Festival (May), Surf-a-Rama (surf expo, June) and Battle of the Paddle (surf contest, October).

 

Huntington City Beach & Pier

The Huntington Beach is 3.5 miles long, between Bolsa Chica State Beach and Huntington State Beach.

Huntington Beach, especially the Huntington Beach Pier area offer a lively atmosphere.

Huntington Beach allows you to enjoy an endless array of beach activities including boogie boarding, surfing and beachside bicycling.

The beaches of Huntington Beach offer waves that make Huntington Beach known as Surf City USA.

Each August, Huntington Beach host the biggest surf contest in the world, the U.S. Open of Surfing.

Across from the Huntington Beach Pier you can find restaurants, bars, the surfing walk of fame and International Surf Museum.

The north end of the Huntington city beach (2 miles no. of the pier, between Seapoint Ave. and Goldenwest St.) is a designated Dog Beach. You can also your dog to run along the sand and splash in the Huntington Beach surf. 

 

Huntington State Beach

The transition between Huntington City Beach and Huntington State beach is almost imperceptible.

The beach is one long stretch of beautiful wide beach.

There is a bicycle/ walking path that extends to Newport Beach.  

 

Laguna Beaches

Laguna Beach provides seven miles of soft sand and wonderful surf.

The coves in North Laguna’s beaches are favored for scuba diving and exploring tide pools. 

Laguna’s Lively Main Beach is usually busy, crowded and within steps of many restaurants and shops.

Salt Creek Beach

Salt Creek Beach is located below the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point.

The beach is a popular surfing spot and filled with sunbathers, swimmers and body surfers.

Salt Creek Beach offers a large parking lot.

The parking lot is located on the bluff above the beach.
